Beck & Harich Aquarium Technology

From simple handicrafts to industrial production

^
2007

First prototypes of the B&H pressure box

  • The plastic parts were turned using a lathe. We still had the air connection as an additional purchased part. We first drilled the holes in the pipe with a drill
^
2008

Series production of B&H pressure cans and air lifters

  • In order to produce larger quantities, the first injection molds were built for the pressure cans in 16, 20 and 25 mm. We built a punching machine for the tubes in order to achieve larger quantities
^
2010

Expansion of series production of Beck & Harich air lifters

  • Thanks to the very high demand, we started building the mold for the outlet for 16, 20 and 25 mm pipes
^
2012

Quick filter with B&H high-performance air lifters and B&H universal holder

  • We developed our quick filter and designed our universal holder for air lifters, quick filters and heating rods. We built three special injection molding tools for the holder
^
2016

Development of our rearing rings with bubble stone

  • This year we built a special injection mold for the rearing rings to attach the fabric to the bottom without glue
^
2016

Extension of the rearing rings

  • A new rearing ring with airlift and overflow is being developed
^
2017

Square rearing rings

  • At the customer’s request, we have also developed a square shape for the floating plate of the rearing rings
^
2020

Series production of Extreme pressure cans

  • In response to numerous customer requests, we develop a significantly more powerful, easy-to-clean air lifter – the pressure box for the Xtreme is born. And we also build the corresponding injection mold
^
2021

Betta rearing rings

  • In response to popular customer demand, we have added a higher ring to our range for breeding and keeping fighting fish
^
2020

Cichlid rearing rings

  • For dwarf cichlid keepers, we have also developed a special ring for rearing dwarf cichlids with an airlift

The tinkerer

Roland Beck

Roland was born in 1954 and has been an aquarist with heart and soul since the early 1980s. As a long-standing member of the aquarium club Aqua-Freunde Dürrwangen e.V., he has his ear to the ground and knows the needs of aquarists from practical experience. Roland is also a member of the club’s board of directors.

Roland is a mold maker by trade – so he is used to working very precisely and paying attention to the smallest details. But it’s not just his profession that makes him a real tinkerer – the passionate tinkerer is always on the lookout for the best way to produce different parts.

The maker

Markus Harich

Markus was born in 1977 and has been a passionate aquarist since the late 1980s. Like Roland, Markus is also a long-standing member of the aquarium club Aqua-Freunde Dürrwangen e.V., where he is involved as a board member, stock exchange chairman and so on.

The tool mechanic likes to look for solutions that enable faster and more cost-effective production from individual part manufacture to industrial production.

He owns 40 aquariums and 6 ponds and breeds carp and zander as well as fish for the garden pond such as koi, goldfish, golden orfe and others.

His main focus in the aquarium hobby was initially on breeding Malawi perch and L-catfish, which he also propagated for the wholesale trade.
Markus is now involved with breeding guppies, various species of livebearers, rainbow minnows and still with L-catfish.
