Air lifters are perfect for operating a sponge filter, mat filter or rapid filter in the aquarium, providing flow and at the same time effectively aerating the aquarium. Air lifters are particularly ideal in rearing tanks for young fish or a shrimp aquarium.

Air lifters are powered by an air pump outside the aquarium - ideal for anyone who is suspicious of the combination of electricity and water in the aquarium.

In the Beck & Harich air lifter, a special injection-molded part with uniform holes punched close together by machine breaks up the large air bubbles from the pump into tiny bubbles that rise quietly in the air lifter, entraining water and enriching it with oxygen.

If the airlift is installed behind a filter mat (as with the Hamburg mat filter) or equipped with a foam cartridge, the rising air draws the water to be filtered out of the aquarium through the mat so that it can be cleaned there by filter bacteria.
